 
New York Senator Base Tour
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand toured facilities here March 25 to see firsthand how they've improved since the base was taken off the closure list in 2005.
It was the first time the New York senator visited the base, both Wing Commanders Col Mark Murphy 914th AW and Col Jim McCready 107th AW showed her the new Small Arms Range under construction and the completed Army Guard Reserve Training Center.

Yellow Ribbon event educates upcoming deployers
Almost two hundred 107th Airlift Wing members packed the base theatre for a pre-deployment Yellow Ribbon event designed to inform, educate and address concerns that the deployers and their family may have. More than a dozen subject matter experts addressed the Airmen simplifying benefits that they are entitled to receive. Along with presentations from organizations such as Tricare, the VA and the Red Cross, 1st Lt. Lindsay Sorce the 107th Yellow Ribbon coordinator reassured the Airmen that there is support network in place for family that they leave behind. 105th Military Police Company sendoff
Soldiers for the 105th Military Police Company, New York Army Guard received a standing ovation as they entered the hangar for sendoff ceremony. More than 115 Soldiers have been training for more than a year in preparation for a yearlong deployment as a Police Transition Team to Iraq. According to the 105th MP Company Commander Capt. John Vanlaningham the Soldiers are ready to deploy, highly motivated and ready to get the mission done. 107th AW gets new commander
On Jan 22nd in a ceremony attended by more than 1,000 military members, family, and friends, Colonel Jim McCready assumed command of the 107th Airlift Wing. New York State Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy (on left) passes the Wing's colors to the new commander as the outgoing 107th AW Commander (on right) Col. Patrick Ginavan looks on. Well suited for the new challenge, Col. McCready previously served as the wing's vice commander, responsible for equipping and training the wing?s 800 Airmen.
